イランの中で最も古いと言われるロリ族とも深いつながりを持つ部族の呼称です。ザグロス山脈周辺の様々な地域に分布して生活し、定住化が進む一方、昔ながらの遊牧生活を営む人々もいます。定住型の人々の織る絨毯には縦糸に綿が用いられ、遊牧生活を営む場合は身の回りで賄うことのできる羊毛が縦糸に用いられます。格子文様で表された区画の中に花々や愛を表す柳の木などが織り込まれるデザインが特徴的です。これらは植生豊かな庭園であり、見果てぬ夢であるユートピアを表していると考えられます。
