この地は遊牧に適したなだらかな高地がつづき、遊牧文化が発達してきました。古代ではイラン系アラン人が住み、14世紀カラ・コユンル王朝がこの地に誕生、アルタイ系、テュルク系民族の地域として栄えました。そしてこの時代から現代までこの地域ではアルタイ語系のアゼルバイジャン語が使われるようになりました。 数多くの少数民族も移住し、キリム・スマック・ジャジム織などそれぞれの民族が生み出す多種多様な織と文様に恵まれました。この地域では古くからのプリミティブで力強いコーカサス的な要素と宮廷的な繊細で華麗な要素の融合がみられ興味深いです。

This land features gentle highlands suitable for nomadism, where nomadic culture has developed. In ancient times, the Iranian Alans inhabited this area, and in the 14th century, the Kara Koyunlu dynasty was established here, flourishing as a region of Altaic, Turkic peoples. From this era to the present, the Altaic Azerbaijani language has been used in this region. Numerous ethnic minorities have also migrated here, resulting in a rich variety of weavings and patterns created by each ethnic group, such as kilim, sumak, and jajim. It is fascinating to see the fusion of ancient, primitive, and powerful Caucasian elements with the delicate and splendid elements of courtly culture in this region.
