Turkmen
The Turkmen are a group of Turkic-speaking tribes based in northeastern Iran and Central Asia. They are a nomadic people consisting of several tribes, including the Tekke, Yomut, Ersari, and Beshir. Today, many Turkmen have settled and transitioned to a more sedentary lifestyle. The majority of Turkmen are Sunni Muslims, who strictly prohibit idol worship. Their carpets typically feature geometric patterns rather than realistic depictions. Among these, the continuous oval motif known as "Gul" is particularly distinctive.
