中西部のカーシャーンは古くから旅する隊商隊の宿所を擁するオアシス都市でした。サファヴィー朝時代には宮廷工房が構えられ、製作された名品が数多く生まれました。これらの作品はロンドンのビクトリア&アルバート博物館をはじめとした世界中の博物館美術館に収蔵されています。16世紀アッバース王が好んだとされるパルメット文様や植物文様、生命の樹文様など美しい曲線を生かしたデザインが特徴的です。日本へ渡ったのち豊臣秀吉の陣羽織に仕立てられたカーシャーンのつづれ織も大変有名です。

The oasis city of Kashan in the Midwest has long been a resting place for traveling caravans. During the Safavid period, a royal workshop was established there, producing numerous exquisite works. These pieces are housed in museums and art galleries around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The designs are characterized by beautiful curves, featuring patterns such as palmette motifs, floral motifs, and the Tree of Life motif, which were favored by Shah Abbas in Safavid period. The Kashan tapestry, which was tailored into a battle jacket for Toyotomi Hideyoshi after being brought to Japan, is also very famous.

Soleymanieh Fini is not only reviving the Safavid and Qajar royal workshop carpets by using traditional methods of Hand spinning and vegetable dying, but also innovating new weavings such as Tsurukusaori which is finely woven by silk. Soleymanieh Fini’s weavers are in Kashan, Azerbaijan province and Turkmens in northeast of Iran.
